My eyes caught my child’s eyes.
Her sparkle sparkled inside me.
A wife’s glancing warm and gentle voice. A father’s pat n’ cuddle to say goodbye n’ thanks n’ I’ve not long to go.
Listening about ex-wives n’ children with old school friends at an afternoon table of prawns
An unmet friend waiting for me at a foreign corner. Waiting to give me his smile and his arm and to toast to our shared brotherhood.
Drunk men trying to belittle me and call me nought. Their anger blinding me. I’ve done some careless things that hurt people.
